Study On The Application Of MFA To Beijing Economic System

As a new tool for measurement of materials throughput in economic system and a new indicator system, Material Flow Accounting / Analysis (MFA) has been applied widely at home recently, but there are a few cases study of MFA in regional level, thus studying on the application of MFA to regional economic system is significant. Especially for capital Beijing, has very important meaningful for environment improvement, social and economic development in harmony and green Olympic Games held in 2008.This paper first collected and analyzed the physical data of MFA, and worked out the physical input-output table of MFA in 2004 in Beijing. Second, the economic change trends of MFA have been analyzed from time series. Third, studied of the Kuznets curve of Beijing environment and the environmental impact based on the data of MFA from 2000 to 2005.Finally, according to the study results of MFA, this paper suggested that Beijing should improve growth mode, increase natural resources using efficiency, especially for by making technology progress and industry structure adjusting to enhance using efficiency of natural resources to promote social, economy and environment harmonious development and sustainable making progress in Beijing.
