| With the knowledge economy overspread all over the world, the core competitiveness of a certain country depends largely on the capacity for independent innovation. The economic growth has been resting on the broad market base and low-cost labor force with substantive consumption of rare resources. The value of"market first, take a lead development in part of the country"held for the past thirty years has come to an inferior position. As the Eleventh Five-year Program proposed, the government has attached more importance to a"scientific development driven by innovation"so as to pursue a more sustainable development. The university-industry knowledge alliance prescribed a treatment for the government: either for the short-term tasks or for the long-run vision, the self-innovative capabilities be improved and economic growth be sustained once the government could distribute knowledge requirements and economic elements in a rational manner.To assist the government with grasping the operation framework of"university-industry knowledge alliance", this essay begins with the internal operation mode of"university–industry knowledge alliance"including the knowledge transfer process at the physical level as well as externalization of intangible knowledge at the structural level.
