Research On Company's Performance Comprehensive Measurement System

Abstract/Summary:
Performance comprehensive measurement is one of core problems in business management research. There were lots of researches on manager or stuff performance. However, researches on company's comprehensive performance are very few because of its complexity. Company's performance measurement was mainly focused on financial indicators. However, it is proved that pure financial indicators can't reflect Company's comprehensive performance systematically. As enlarging of company scale, the ability of adapting to the environment also should keep the pace, thus it is crucial for executive officers to discover problems clearly by way of company's comprehensive performance. The contradiction between the important role of telecom industry in our economy and the luck of its performance comprehensive measurement decided that telecom company performance measurement research has its significance.This dissertation reviewed some performance measurement literature and some limitations were summed up, then the Balanced Scorecard (short for BSC) was put forward and introduced to telecom industry in our country. BSC-a popular performance measurement methodology, is widely used in international telecom corporations and it has achieved remarkable effect.This dissertation, with the example of China Netcom Corporation (CNC) Jiangsu Branch (short for CNC Jiangsu), constructed a comprehensive performance measurement system with the characteristics of CNC Jiangsu. In BSC model, the weight was given with four different perspectives-Financial, Customer, internal Business, Innovation and Learning by way of Delphi, AHP and main composition analysis, thus the BSC was optimized.This dissertation made an empirical study on the BSC of CNC Jiangsu, and some conclusions were summed up.â‘ According to the performance measurement result of 13 branches in CNC Jiangsu, performance had no positive relationship with local economy level, in other words, local economy can't improve performance effectively, intensive management and strong execution is critical.â‘¡Investment scale had an approximate positive relationship with performance for companies in growth stage. Performance in south of Jiangsu branches was better than that of north or middle of Jiangsu branches. Performance improvement has somewhat relationship with market investment on a large scale in south of Jiangsu branches these years.â‘¢According to performance in the perspective of customer, it is helpful to find out key indicators that drive performance by way of BSC analysis, thus it can strongly control those keyindicators.â‘£In the empirical study, the causality among some indicators in CNC Jiangsu BSC was analyzed by way of multiple linear regression, thus the BSC in CNC Jiangsu was demonstrated to be reasonable. The demonstration not only offered theoretic proof in decision-making for CNC Jiangsu, but have some value for other telecom corporations. In addition, the author summed up the limitations of this dissertation and its prospect.
