Research On The Running Model Of Regional Innovation System In The Yangtze River Delta

Because of the development of economic globalization, the world economy comes to a whole. Both countries and regions make efforts to be a part of the global economy. Various cities, regions and countries seek cooperation when competing with each other. As the popularity of economic globalization and market economics in the world, the productive elements are able to flow within the world. The traditional idea that economic unit based on country is gradually changed. Region plays a more and more important part in the global economy. Region is to be the most active unit in the world economy. The competitive advantage of region lies on innovation. If a region wants to develop in an abnormal way, there are two key points: new technology and the regional economic environment that fits the new technology. An effective regional innovation system can help the region make progress with limited resources. Hence, there is a positive correlativity between regional innovation system and regional competitive advantage. It means that a region which wants to gain competitive advantage in global market should build a regional innovation system.China is keeping improving the national competitive ability in the knowledge economics. The Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and the Bohai-bay Region are three important regions in China. Among the three regions, the Yangtze River Delta is the most active one, and the leading role in Chinese economy. Since the beginning of the 21th century, the Yangtze River Delta has been trying to found the regional economic integration. The Yangtze River Delta develops at a high speed through cooperation and competition. Especially after 2003, "the Yangtze River Delta" has become a topic word frequently used. As a result, the year 2003 was called "Year of the Yangtze River Delta".This paper contains five chapters. Chapter 1 is Introduction. This chapter talked about the theory of Regional Innovation System and the significance of this research paper and the basic concepts of Regional Innovation System. It defined the concept and components of Regional Innovation System, and analyzed the running models of Regional Innovation System. There are three running models: running model based on Industry Clusters, Product Life Cycle and Triple Helix. Chapter 2 described the situation of Regional Innovation System in the Yangtze River Delta. Chapter 3 estimated the efficiency of Regional Innovation System in the Yangtze River Delta by a DEA model. The DEA model analyzed technical and economic efficiency. Chapter 4focused on the optimized model of Regional Innovation System in the Yangtze River Delta based on the estimation in chapter 3. The optimized model combines Industry Cluster and Triple Helix. Chapter 5 was about conclusion and discussion. It talked about the conclusion of this paper and some disadvantages of research.
