The Jinghang Canal is the longest and oldest artificial river in the world. It's also the precious tourist resources which can be developed in China. The canal tourism has become the new hotspot in the cities along the bank. Taking the case of the Grand Canal at Yangzhou, this article discusses the basic theory of canal tourism, analyses the condition of development and the main problems of the Yangzhou section. Furthermore, the excavation of canal culture and its influence on the tourism development of Yanghou city is discussed as well. At last, the article puts forward the basic countermeasures and the new ideas for the tourist resources development of the Grand Canal in Yangzhou. There are fives parts in this paper.The first part is prolegomenon. It introduces the domestic and international research progress of canal tourism, puts forward theory foundation and the research meaning, at last discusses the technique route, method and the new views of the article.The second part studies the basic features of the tourist resources of the Grand Canal in Yangzhou and evaluates the conditions for the tourism development.The third part tends to explore the canal culture and its influence on the tourism development about Yangzhou city. It discusses the connotation of the canal culture, analyses emphatically the interaction of the Grand Canal and tourism development of Yangzhou.The forth part researches the further development of tourist resources for the Grand Canal at Yangzhou. It discusses the development principles, the plan of product development, the designation of tourist route and the promotion of tourism brand image.At last, the article analyses the main problems of the tourism development in Yangzhou canal section, puts forward the basic countermeasures, and discusses emphatically the tourist propaganda and the regional tourism cooperation.
