The development of knowledge-based economy has taken high-tech enterprises as foundation, and it depends on the abilities of knowledge workers,including knowledge, technology, capacity and mentality. Nowadays, the high liquidity and loss of knowledge workers in high-tech enterprises reveals the problems in the knowledge workers motivation. All of these facts has brought forward an exigent demand to the developing enterprises of our country——How to motivate the knowledge worker in high-tech enterprises?This paper researches on this realistic problem, makes a conclusion to the related theories about motivation theory, and tries to summarize the enlightenment of motivation theory for knowledge workers. After analyzing the characteristic of our country's high-tech enterprises and knowledge workers, the details of how to motivate employees under the rule of person-based have been put forward. On the base of theories, this paper designs a comprehensive and general system of motivation and takes a software company as an example with the purpose of supervising the practice.In this paper, there is not only theoretical analysis, but also some practical researches. The innovation of this paper includes the following two aspects: Firstly, this paper summarizes the traditional motivation thoughts in China, the classical motivation theories and the new tendency in this field. And then conclude the enlightenment which the motivation theories give to the knowledge worker.Secondly, this paper constructs the motivation system of the knowledge worker in the high-tech enterprises. The writer points out that the motivation system should contain four aspects: fair and scientific performance evaluation, finance and no finance compensation mixed system, proper career planning, and the relevant enterprise culture. Among the four aspects, the writer emphases on the following two aspects: designing the compensation structure and the career management.
