A Research On The Development Of Energy Trade Between China And Asean

Energy is the strategic resource of national economic development, also occupies an important position in regional and international trade. Although the advantage of some energy trade between China and ASEAN is becoming weak, the strong complementarity exists in other energy's resources gift and comparative cost, and comparative advantage is obvious. The abundant natural gas and hydro-power are the effective supplement and adjustment to the large energy gap and heavy inbalance of energy consumption in China; and there are advantages in resources gift and scale economy of coal and petroleum oils and products in China. Therefore, there is a good prospect of developing energy trade between China and ASEAN in the frame work of CAFTA. It is significant to strengthen the energy trade between China and ASEAN for the sake of building CAFTA. At present, some problems, such as intrinsic comparative advantage is becoming weak and actual level of trade is low, exist in energy trade between China and ASEAN. With the strength of investment in energy in traditional energy country, and the development and application of new energy in new ASEAN country, the comparative advantage between China and ASEAN will be strengthened. The energy trade between China and ASEAN will be promoted by strengthening mutual investment and coordinate mechanism in energy.
