The Analysis Of TBT And Corresponding Policy In China's Exports Of Agricultural Products

The role of tariff barrier and traditional non-tariff barrier in the international trade is declining. As a type of non-tariff barrier, technical barriers to trade are using as an important way of trade protectionism and are becoming an important issue in economic field. With the open policy in the past 20 years, the economy in China has made great progress. Especially after China entry into the WTO, it will still continue to expand exports. However, China is a developing country and lags behind the developed country in both technology and capital. Therefore, we should export the products which could exert our special advantage of rich and intensive labor, such as the very typical one, agricultural products. But in the developed countries the agricultural products are the main objected products by the technical barriers to trade. With the economy developing, the export of our agricultural products with labor-intensive has been hindered more and more largely by the technical barrier to trade which has been one of the most difficult problems to cope with in our export of agricultural products. It is an important issue that China has to face in the new century to reseach on the effect of technical barrier to trade on China's export trade and break through its limits so that China will expand its export. On the basis of above, the thesis analyses them in the aspect of both theory and Empiric: Firstly, the paper sums up some documents that had been researched, and sets forth some existent research way and the background to elect the subject. Secondly, it analyses the effect of technical barrier to trade on China's export from the micro-level and also introduces the research methods in this thesis from the practice. Based on the theoretical analysis and practical methods, we use the list to make a general summary about the affairs and characters of our main agricultural products which suffered the technical trade barrier in 2006. This thesis will aim at analyzing the two kinds of agricultural products, labor-intensive and land-intensive, divided by the use of resources. Then, combining with the concrete characters and Chinese datum, we will analyze how the foreign technical barriers to trade effect the export of our agricultural products by using gravity model into practice. Finally, we have got the conclusion of this paper and we should find some solutions to stride over the foreign technical barriers to trade.
