Although the present well-known economical hotel brands mainly concentrates in the coastal developed areas, these hotels are sure to expand to the mid-west region where having rich tourism resources in the near future. As a big middle province with rich tourism resources, the potential market of the economical hotels in Hunan is huge, so Hunan will inevitably become the main investment goal. Facing the fact that the main competitor Huatian Group has took the lead entering the economical hotel domain in Hunan, as a giant of the Hunan hotel industry, if could not hold the development opportunity of the economical hotels, the long term development of Tongcheng Group will inevitably be influenced.At present there are not only good opportunities but also many threats for the development of the economical hotels. Through the research of the competition intensity of the economical hotels based on the five-strength model, this article figures that the future competition intensity will inevitably enlarge and Tongcheng Group has to enter the economical hotel domain as soon as possible. Before deciding to enter the economy hotel domain, Tongcheng Group must analyze its own superiorities and conditions, and can not blindly follow the others.Using the classical strategic management theories for reference, this paper studies the feasibility for Tongcheng Group to develop the economical hotels based on the SWOT model. So this article sets down the strategic design and goal in detail for Tongcheng Group to develop economical hotels, and through the comparison of different strategic implementation means, establishes that the economical hotel development of Tongcheng Group depends on the brands, the chain and the collectivization if it wants to carry out the large and canonical development. According to the strategic implementation of the economic hotel for Tongcheng Group, based on the management experience of some best hotels in the world and the classical management theories, this paper sets down the strategic implementation measures and the related guarantee measures.This article researches the necessity for Tongcheng Group to develop the economy hotels based on the analysis of the strategic environment, and studies feasibility though the strategic abilities analysis, and proposes a complete set of plan from the formulation of the strategic target and the concrete development strategy to the strategic implementation and the guarantee measures.
