Research On Mutual Relationship Between Urban Transport And Land Use

This dissertation takes Urumqi as the case to explore the mutual relationship and interaction mechanism between urban transport and land use, and puts forward the sustainable urban pattern and urban transport pattern that suits for Urumqi. The thesis consists of following sections.Firstly, the author recites the study on mutual relationship and interaction between urban transport and land use done by foreign and Chinese scholars. The structure of the dissertation is introduced, involves adjectives, framework, methodology and study area.Secondly, the dissertation compares the affection on urban sprawl and land use of Car-Oriented Development with Transit-Oriented Development and TOD.Then it drawing the conclusion that it should combine public traffic with urban space extending.Thirdly, the dissertation analyses the patens of urban sprawl and concludes its characteristic in China. Then it introduces the way to forecast urban size.Fourthly, through the theoretical study and case study, the dissertation lists some contents of the harmony between urban transport and land use .It also brings forward some measures to harmonize the relationship of Urumqi.Finally, the author draws some conclusions and gives some discussion on the problems facing to Urumqi. Then, he puts forward some suggestions.
