Timely understanding of land use present situation and the structure change, is important to promote the rational land use, to achieve sustainable land development. Urumqi urban agglomeration is a form of urban agglomeration oases in arid areas, during the Urumqi urban agglomeration in the sustained economic development, the urban space is also in constant change. With the accelerated pace of urban expansion, the expansion of transport and networks, The region’s urban system spatial distribution pattern and way of land use all have undergone great changes.In this paper, Taking Urumqi urban agglomeration(Urumqi city,Chang ji city, Fu kang city, Wu jia qu city, Shi he zi city) as the research object, Through interpretation every cities 2000, 2006 and 2013 years remote sensing images of Urumqi city group,especially Focus on the 2000-2013 years Land Use Change of Urumqi city group. And do comprehensive analysis to Urumqi urban agglomeration’s land use dynamic changes. The results are as follows:(1) From land use type area of Urumqi urban agglomeration, In 2000, 2006 and2013this three years, the proportion of urban unused land is lager, This is determined by the terrain of Urumqi urban agglomeration.Due to the Urumqi city which is in the Urumqi city group is limited by the terrain, the growth of the Unused area is slow. And the most of the northern area of Chang ji, Fu kang, Wu jia qu cities are located on Gurbantonggut desert, Urban construction area is small. But with the rapid development of society, economy, population, the urban construction land area is constantly increased, unused area has been reduced.(2) The land use change of Urumqi urban agglomeration between 2000-2013 years is very great, from the results and Change range, Changes in urban construction land is more prominent. In the urban construction land changes, the residential land, industrial land and land for public facilities proportion is rising.(3) The Land Use Change of Urumqi city group is mainly affected by both natural factors and human factors. In summary mainly from the following respects: Population growth, economic development and industrial structural changes; besides, Policy factors are also an important factor in the impact of urban land use change.
