A Study On The Change Of The Peasants' Pension Consciousness

As the development of the aging of rural people as well as thetransformation of rural young people from the rural area to the city,the progress of the Family Plan Policy, the change of family structure,the decrease of the family scale and the weakness of the familypension function, the peasants' pension will get more and moreimportant.This study emphasis on the peasants' pension consciousness andits change which is analyzed from the aspect of the peasants'characteristics of Demography and the peasants' social network. Thepeasants' Demography characteristics includes sex, age, the degree ofeducation, the condition of marriage, the family population, thefamily structure and the family annual income. The characteristics ofthe peasants' social network includes strongness, multiplicity andexchangement. The peasants' pension consciousness includes familypension consciousness, self pension consciousness and organizationpension consciousness. The core of the social network analysis is tostudy the social phenomenon and structure from the aspect of "ties".Enlighted by Granvetter's weak ties and BIAN Yan-jie's strong ties, withthe help of Weber's idealistic classification, the social network ofpeasants' pension system can be classified as weak network and strongnetwork. The peasants' pension network can be divided into economicsupporting network, daily caring network and spirit comforting netwrok,and in which the economic supporting network is the most important.This study emphasis on the peasants' economic supporting network.This result of this study reveals that the married peasants are morelikely to accept family pension consciousness than the unmarriedpeasants, and the unmarried ones are more likely to accept self pensionconsciousness than the married peasants. The united and main forced families are more likely to accept family pension consciousness thanthe single and core families, and the single and core families are morelikely to accept self pension consciousness than the united and mainforced families. Old people are more likely to accept family pensionconsciousness than young people, and young people are more likely toaccept organization pension consciousness than the old peasants. Theless strongness the peasants' pension network is, the more stronger thepeasants'family pension consciousness and self pensionconsciousness will be. The less multiplicity the peasants' pensionnetwork is, the more stronger the peasants' family pensionconsciousness and self pension consciousness will be. The lessexchangement the peasants' pension network is, the more stronger thepeasants'family pension consciousness and self pensionconsciousness will be.
