Study On The Existing Situation And Developing Trend Of Exploitating Water Resources In Gansu

Water, as the basic natural resource and strategic economic resource, is the foundation of survival for all beings on the earth. The sustainable development of national economy is grievously restricted by some certain natural calamities, such as lacking water and drought; water logging and flood, as well as the worsening of ecological environment. Being the major means of sustainable utilization, the study on the regional water resources has been one of the hot spots of the water researches home and abroad.According to the existing situation of social and economic development in Gansu province, this paper investigates and then analyses the quantity, quality and exploitation of water resources in the province. Eventually, the developing trend of water resources is also studied in the paper. Based on the above data, some countermeasures and suggestions about the sustainable development of water resources are provided in order to solve the problems discovered in the exploitation and management of them in Gansu province.Water resources are lifelines of the social and economic development in Gansu province. The purpose of the paper is to find out the problems existing in this field, especially the strategic arrangements of them, then to formulate the plan and policy earlier. The outcome of the study will provide the scientific proof and refrenle for the authority in our province to make a strategic decision. Furthermore, the study will also guide the sustainable development of water resource, giving full play to the social, economic and environmental benefits of it.
