The thesis focuses on the Intermediary Business for commercial banks, introduces the development status of Intermediary Business for China's commercial banks and the international commercial banks. Then it analyzes the competition environment, as well as the problems existed. Meanwhile, through a SWOT method, it discusses the advantages, disadvantages and opportunities of the local commercial banks in developing Intermediary Business, and proposed some competition strategy based on the result of discussion. It is truly vital to make further researches in this subject mainly because it's urgent for our commercial banks to develop Intermediary Business, and provide service for our customers and reducing related risks. The operation of the Intermediary Business in our country exposes many problems. These questions not only break out the progress of our Intermediary Business, but also affect the competition position of our commercial banks. There are many articles discussing the problems of commercial banks. But most of them focus on the topics including supervision, risk controlling, laying down price, etc, rather than problems existed in Intermediary Business. And there isn't systematic discussion and understanding about this type of business. Considering the above situation, this thesis is attempted to discuss the whole picture of Intermediary Business under the new environment, with the recently developed model, SWOT, and find some development policy to the problems identified.
