With the fast increasing in foreign trade due to the reform and opening to the world of China, our international freight forwarder industry is in the ascendant and become a new service industry with primary size. While the logistics market in China freight forwarder has much to develop, we have to face many difficulties at the first stage, the problems need to be emphasized and discussed as follows: the cost for logistics in China is double than the developed countries; the logistics speed in China and the efficiency in supply chain management can't compete with the developed countries', that the lag in the mode of logistics service and that the logistics service level is very low lead some foreign corporations to meet many difficulties, especially the high demand for logistics. The outsourcing of logistics service is not prevalent in Chinese companies. The number of freight forwarder in China is very big, but each company is very small. At present, the number of international freight forwarder companies in China is more than 6000, but most of them derived from those companies whose core business used to be foreign trade, transportation, apply to customs, and etc. they all have some weaknesses which are that their size is small, the level of their management and service is not high. The competition of the market will become fierce even more, because of the challenge coming from the globalization of economy and network development of information technology as well as the enlargement access of freight market after China accession to WTO. Under this market circumstance, that the foreign freight forwarder companies revise their development strategy to get more room to survive and develop becomes very necessary.In this thesis, starting with the presentation of the situation nowadays in the domestic and foreign freight market, we analyze the inside and outside circumstance of the freight forwarder companies, after learning the relationship between the third-party logistics and the freight forwarder, and the third-party logistics and the supply chain, we find that it is feasible for the intentional freight forwarder companies to change into the third-party logistics, then summarizing the experience in the successful logistics companies, we can make the strategy how to change and the approaches to meet the strategy on different stages. The research of strategy for company should base on the fact, this thesis take the strategy process of shanghai xinyu International Transport Co., Ltd in which the writer take part by himself for example. The characters in xinyu are representative in the domestic freight forwarder companies, the strategy programming in xinyu and the approaches & performance value on each stage use for reference for this industry. in every chapter, there are strategy and approaches according to each stage, including the analyzing circumstance, the strategy making, the goal phases, approaches and performance value.
