The Vehicle Product Development Program Management System Based On Work Flow

Since 1990'Chinese automotive market is evolving from traditional stable environment to dynamic and changeful trends. All of the automakers accelerate the new product's launch speed, and each model's life cycle is shortened much than in past. How to promote program management level of vehicle product development becomes the crucial measurement to speed up new product launch and reinforce company's core competitiveness.This paper integrates workflow management theory, project management method and web-based technology to develop a vehicle product development program management system. The mathematical model of product development process and task execution role is developed and defined in the system. It will monitor the product development progress by human-computer interaction. The project deliverable is distributed to relevant responsible team member based on pre-defined workflow process. Each deliverable's start and finish date is defined from deliverable timing plan and each other's logic relationship. The system will request the responsible member to update deliverable progress termly and summarize program status in each level. For the delayed and timing risky deliverable, system will raise risk signal and request the owner to submit root cause analysis, risk evaluation and recovery plan. Then after the approval of the team, the deliverable plan will be updated accordingly.The setup of web-based product development program management system breaks down each development work target to each involved member, and makes the program status sharing and opening. The company organized project management and program status quantificational and intelligent monitoring is realized by the system.
