As Chinese tobacco industry is in key adjustment, industrial productivity and resources allocation is facing the in-depth and wide-spread adjustment. But in the face of the great change of industrial environment, we are always in dilemma. On one hand the quick change of the external environment requires us to have a full picture of our company and have a systematic plan of its future. On the other hand, as tobacco industry is very liable to policy change, even for a large-scale company it's difficult to grasp its own long-term development.Based on the situation, we cinsider the key to our strategy is positioning. Suitable positioning will enable us to overcome the fluctuation of the industry. So it's necessary for Fujian tobacco industry to set up its strategic position, so as to face the change of external environment and policy and then to enforce its relevant operation tactics. In reference to Michael Porter's competitive strategy theory, the thesis makes SWOT analysis of tobacco industry. And incorporated with internal situation of Fujian tobacco industry, the thesis proposes the medium to long-term development strategy for Fujian tobacco industry, and further studies on its operation plan so as to get a clear picture and proceed to its strategic goal.The thesis is composed of 4 chapters.Chapter 1. Analysis on tobacco industry environment. Based on the description of the management system of China tobacco industry and its recent development, this chapter refers to 5-force analysis model to evaluate the competition and development of tobacco industry so as to give support to the industry strategy.Chapter 2. Analysis and evaluation on internal resources of Fujian tobacco industry. From the description of recent development and internal production factors of Fujian tobacco industry, the chapter focuses on the analysis of the strength and weakness of Fujian China Tobacco's internal resources and evaluates its opportunity and challenge so as to give support to the strategy of Fujian tobacco industry.Chapter 3. Research on the development strategy of Fujian tobacco industry. On the base of the analysis on industry environment and internal resources in the first 2 chapters, this chapter evaluates the opportunity and challenge of Fujian tobacco industry so as to propose the development strategy for Fujian tobacco industry. Chapter 4. Detailed research on the overall development strategy of Fujian tobacco industry. From the comparison of the assumption of Michael Porter's competition strategy theory and the reality of Fujian tobacco industry, this chapter makes intensive research on the development strategy of Fujian tobacco in the respects of competition strategy and strategic enforcement, so as to propose the writer's understanding of competition strategy theory.
