The land use/land cover change (LUCC) is the important component of global environment change and which leades the global environment change, have became the research key of Earth systems science, therfore the land use and the cover change driving mechanism research is the central content.The land use type is diversity in Changde, along with economic society's fast development, the land use will present a more intense change in city territory, so this paper chooses Changde as the typical sample to take the LUCC research.On the base of the reseaching region survey such as nature, economic and society of the region,the paper thorough researches each main land utilization type quantity and the layout situation of Changde in 2005, Using many kinds of methods as the diverse index, the centralized index and the position index and so on to portray the present situation of land use in city territory.uses many kinds of mathematical methods to analyzes the land utilization degree, quantity and region difference situation in Changde from 1997-2005. on the base of detailed research of Changde , uses the method of quantitative and qualitative analysis of combining to analysis various factors as economic and social which impact on the change of land use, then making out the land use driving model of Change, and gets the eco-society factor be the main driving factor. uses the typical correlation method analysis to obtain the main actuation factor which causing the land use change of Changde.At last uses the Markov model to make the science forecast of land utilization structure in the future of Changde.Through the qualitative and quantity analysis to study the driving force of land use change in Changde and discuss the actuation mechanism of land use change, provides the research case for the region land use change research, provides the scientific basis for the city territory land using management and decision-making.
