The functional managers in the modern enterprise who have advantage of knowledge and innovation possess a large number of human capitals to be an important component of the core competitiveness of enterprises. The functional managers have become the persons who can give advice and participate in the decision-making process. Therefore, it is very important for enterprises to motivate functional managers and the results that have very important significance have a direct impact on the implementation of the strategy and development.In this paper, we use literature research, the survey questionnaire and interview for research. Through literature research, we can understand the past research for the motivating factors of functional managers. Then analyze the deficiencies of research results and proposed the content of the study and preliminary research ideas. We collect data through the survey questionnaire for statistical analysis to make the conclusion of the study in this paper. The purpose of interview study is to understand the motivating demands of functional mangers and gather the necessary information for the design of the questionnaire.In this study we use SPSS statistical software as a research tool to have factors analysis, reliability analysis, analysis of variance and correlation and regression analysis. We mainly research the feelings of importance and satisfaction of motivating factors for functional managers. Then we have further analysis of the different backgrounds of functional managers who have the different feelings of importance and satisfaction of motivating factors. Finally, we analyze the forecast of satisfaction of motivating factors to the overall satisfaction.At last, according to the research results we propose a few suggestions for motivating functional managers. Firstly, enterprise should be material factors such as salaries as the motivating core. Secondly, use different motivating methods to motivate different background of functional managers. Thirdly, consider importance and satisfaction of motivating factors. Finally, take various integrated motivating methods to establish systemic motivating mechanism of suiting the characteristics of enterprises. The purpose of the paper is by empirical study to explore the main motivating factors impact on functional managers and the satisfaction of current motivating status in order to make suggestions for enterprise motivating functional managers. This paper has the following innovation: on the one side is perspective innovation. This research has grasped the new perspective of motivating factors for functional managers that the previous persons have not researched. And analyze the different feelings of importance and satisfaction of motivating factors for different background of functional managers. On the other side, the study through factor analysis extracted four main motivating factors impact on functional managers which are work motivating factors, environmental motivating factors, spiritual motivating factors and material motivating factors. Then research the four factors one by one and explore the practical significance.
