Research On The Regional Difference Of Tourism Development Performance In Yangtze River Basin

Since 2000, with tourism performance of every regions appearing, tourism has became an important part of Chinese society, economy, culture, and environment protection. At the same time, with tourism performance appearing in aspects, such as society, economy, culture, and environment protection and so on, each level government has realized the important impulse effects on regions development, and in succession, they set tourism as pillar industry, leading industry, or new economic growth point of the regions. Surely, each province in the Yangtze River basin is not exception, and they pay more and more attention to the development of the tourism. However, there are very great differences in current situation and level of the development in the provinces of the Yangtze River basin. Therefore, rationally and effectively evaluating tourism performance of the provinces and analyzing the causes which affect the differences of tourism performance in the provinces, contribute to the coordinative and healthy developing in the provinces' tourism industry.Based on the comprehensive analysis of the research on the regional tourism performance at home and abroad, and from the perspective of the tourism development dynamics, welfare economics and new institutional economics as well as Core-Periphery theory, this paper studies the tourism performance in the provinces and the causes which affect regional tourism performance differences. Firstly, the paper analyses the composing of regional tourism performance, and then selects indexes of four aspects, such as earning-foreign-exchange effect, income effect, employment effect and industrial elements effect, to construct a set of relatively complete evaluation index system of regional tourism performance. Based on the index system, this paper comprehensively evaluates the tourism performances of the provinces which are in the end of tenth five-year by function coefficient method, and then draw a conclusion that tourism development of the provinces presents "U" development pattern. Then, from two aspects which comprise realized conditions of tourism development and the intensity of effective action of governments, the paper analyses the causes of regional tourism performance differences, and further puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to promote rapid developing of the provinces in Central China Area, and consequently realize tourism industry prosperity of the whole basin.This text is divided into six chapters.Chapter one is the introduction. It mainly expatiates on the studying background, the significance of the study, domestic and international relevant research, the method and framework of this text. Chapter two is the theoretical foundation of the research. It mainly expatiates on the theories which are correlative with the regional tourism development which comprise the tourism development dynamics, welfare economics theory and new institutional economics as well as Core-Periphery theory, etc.Chapter three is the research on the evaluation of regional tourism performances. It mainly define what is regional tourism performance, and describes the regional tourism performance comprising four aspects which include economic performance, social performance, ecological performance, industry performance, etc. Further, it discusses the evaluation of regional tourism from three aspects, namely the evaluation principle of the regional tourism, the indexes selection of the regional tourism and the selection of evaluation methods of the regional tourism. Finally, it draws a conclusion of evaluating performances of the regional tourism.Chapter four is the analysis of performance differences of the regional tourism. From three aspects, it mainly analyses the factors which influence the regional tourism, namely the realized conditions (the development level of regional economic, resources endowing conditions, accessibility conditions, etc) and the intensity factor of government effective action.Chapter five is countermeasures and suggestions to be put forward in order to enhance regional tourism of the provinces in Central China. From three aspects, It is to build unified and open market system with orderly competition and to cultivate tourism industry cluster and to enhance government-dominated.Chapter six is the discussion and conclusions. This chapter summarizes the conclusions and proposes some issues needed further study.
