A Study On Spatial Structure And Performance Of Shanghai High-star Hotels

With the accelerated process of urbanization and the development of the tourism industry, hotel industry in Shanghai has become an important component of the tourism industry, High-star hotels developed faster. In 2006, the number of Shanghai high-star hotels is 69,it grew 80 percents than 2000,it achieves revenue 11.58 billion yuan, about 75.1 percents of Shanghai's total hotel industry income. At the same time, high-star hotel has formed a relatively complete industrial distribution structure, most of them concentrate in the distribution of Lujiazui, the People's Square, Jing'an Temple, and several other core business district. High-star hotels' rapid growth trend, good performance and the accumulation of space must have its inherent law. Based on the Shanghai high-stars hotel industry, this article explores several problems as follow.First, sort out the evolution process of high-stars hotels. Through detailed data collection and field visits, the primary purpose is to sort out the historical evolution path from the time dimension, grasp the macro background of its formation, development.Second, explain the spatial structure of Shanghai high-star hotels and their affecting factors. After actual investigation, this paper wants to aggregate the main distribution feature of the high-star hotel on the basis of summarized analysis, also gives in-depth analysis of the key factors to spatial distribution of high-star hotels in Shanghai.Third, explore the relation between the spatial distribution and performance of the high-star hotels in Shanghai. As the core of this paper, from the empirical analysis, this chapter through the combining method of static and dynamic analysis, aggregate the impact of the hotel location on their performance.Finally, point out the problems of Shanghai high-star hotels in the spatial distribution and give the countermeasures and suggestions. Combined with the key factors to the performance of high-star hotels, this paper wants to explain problems that exist in the spatial distribution of Shanghai high-star hotels, at the same time, proposes relevant countermeasures and suggestions of protecting the healthy development of high-star of Shanghai. Finally, this paper raises prospects of the spatial structure of Shanghai high-star hotels in the future.
