Research On International Competitiveness Of Zhejiang Industry

Industry is the cornerstone of an economy and the vital factor for technical innovation and structural optimization. With globalization speeding up, Zhejiang industry is becoming involved in global competition. How about the international competitiveness and what are the strongpoint and weakness of Zhejiang industry? To answer these questions, we need positive study. According to previous research, scholars usually study international competitiveness of industry from the aspect of a country not a district, and they seldom establish a comprehensive evaluation system. Thus, establishing an evaluation system and analyzing advantages and disadvantages of Zhejiang industry have both theoretical and practical value.The logic frame of this thesis is from product to industry. Firstly, the thesis analyzes the current situation and trade structure of Zhejiang industrial products and selects three indexes to measure their international competitiveness. Then, by adopting the expert-survey method and comprehensive evaluation method of Fuzzy Mathematics, the thesis establishes an evaluation system to evaluate the international competitiveness of Zhejiang industry. Lastly, the thesis forwards countermeasures from the aspect of both government and enterprises.The study indicates that the increasing trade surplus of Zhejiang industrial products relies on price competitiveness. The most competitive industrial products of Zhejiang are labor-intensive and resource-intensive products. The international competitiveness of Zhejiang industry is superior to that of India and the average level of our country, and inferior to that of Japan and America. The advantages of Zhejiang industry mainly consist in high growing potential, low labor cost, large amount of FDI and etc while the disadvantages lie in weakness in science and technology, low utilization rate of energy, imperfect infrastructure, and etc.The possible innovation is that this thesis creates a "Plum Blossom Model" and gives weight to every index by an expert survey. Furthermore, by using comprehensive evaluation method of Fuzzy Mathematics, this thesis compares the industrial international competitiveness of Zhejiang with that of America, Japan, India, and the average level of our country.
