Research On Project Supervision Of Yiulian Ship Repairing Base

Nowadays, the policy of mandate construction supervision has been widely accepted by the society following the obvious achievements it made in the past years. However, due to the unmatured market and lack of some regulations, there are still some limitations which may be improved by analyzing the activities and summarizing the practices.The project of Yiulian ship repairing base, which is one of the most important projects invested by China Merchants Group in southern China and costs around RMB2.3 billion, is expected to be the main facilities to carry out the strategy of Yiulian Dockyards (Shekou) Limited. It has been constructing since December 2004 and proceeds very well under the schedule. By satisfying the quality standards, the aim of the supervision is to find the most optimized solution to reduce the cost and the construction time. How to improve the control level and maximize comprehensive profit for the project has become the most challenging problems before us.With the help of the theory of project management, this essay analyzed and studied the contract management and controls of quality, progress and cost of the project of Yiulian ship repairing base, and tried to find out the reasons of the successful and/or failure factors, gave some improvement suggestions and summarized a useful method regarding all of those controls. Some key problems are also discussed and the conclusions reached at the end of this essay can also be used as the references for some other projects.
