Nowadays, with the trend of the enhancement of economic globalization, the business communication between different countries is becoming closer and tighter. The successful operation, that is the method of"regards world as the factory, regards various countries as the workshop", engaged in the management of globalization not only demands to have advanced technology and consummate management and administration, but also have to overcome the cultural difference of different country and region, especially to dispel cross-cultural obstacles. To the management of cross-cultural joint ventures, it is much more significant to solve the cultural clash caused by different cultures. What's more, they are putting forth new big challenges for the management in these large enterprises, which may still hasn't been commonly recognized. Most managers are now facing this tough problem, that is, how to properly and sufficiently utilize, under such an international cultural environment, their human resources from different countries (or regions). It is truly accepted that one's life style, sequence for needs and lusts, preference to commodities, outlook of career and life value, ideal for profession, degree of efforts and modes of inspirit are all based on his cultural backgrounds. Culture, as a sum total of human being's knowledge beliefs, ethics, laws, customs and etc., has been influencing not only people's styles of thinking, talking, living, and working, but also their thought and behaviors. Different nationalities and regions people came from determine the differences in their cultures. This kind of cultural differences may even exist in those from the same country or region. Therefore, great problems came upon occasionally. There's no way to escape but to actively look,upon those differences as useful resources for culture coordination instead of heavy burdens. It becomes help to analyze managerial problems and difficulties originated from cultural differences so that more understandings are acquired upon the functions of cultural value and behavior expectation in the operation of economy and management of enterprises and that proper coordination can be made between Chinese culture and the American one. The subject invested in this paper is C & F Company which is a joint venture of U.S and China. In the paper, the theory of cross-cultural management is used, and by analyzing from management thoughts, code of management to the difference of managerial behavior, the author finds that the difference between different cultures is the root which causes problems exist in the management of joint ventures between U.S. and China. Besides, the author analyzes the main reasons which cause the clash in joint ventures in China and proposes the following methods of cross-cultural management: To solve the clashes in the management thoughts, code of management and the differences in managerial behavior, first, to make both sides of the countries have more cross-cultural understanding and communications between each other, and build"alloy"corporate culture to realize combination of two cultures, second, to use the strategies including the cultural strategy of combines and creates both cultures, localization strategy and the strategy of division of power and management to solve the problems.What's more, foreign enterprise in China should pay attention to humanism rule, pay attention to cross-cultural training, employ people who have the ability to quickly adapt to different cultures, and set up mutual values. In a word, under the use of right management methods, the difference between cultures can be a useful resource and bring advantages to the company instead of becoming obstacles.
