Study On The Coordinated Development Of Urbanization And Industrial Structure In The Three Gorges Reservoir Area

Development of urbanization and evolution of the industrial structure are the two important elements in regional economic growth and development process. They interact and interplay each other indispensably. The gradual progress of the industrial structure in order not merely promotes the enhancement of city ability to develop, but is the important motive force of the modern urbanization; On the other hand, upgrading of industrial structure need space support in a great deal of urbanization aspect, such as, urban space expansion, urban function system etc. On the contrary, the lack of positive interactions and coordination mechanism between urbanization process and industrial development would result in a junior industries being unable to support urbanization and urban economic development; or urbanization lagging far behind the industrial structure will be difficult to become industrial upgrading platform. It is a high relevance exists between the urbanization and orderly evolution of the industrial structure. Therefore, it can provide a theoretical basis for establishing reasonable regional industrial policy and speeding up the urbanization to study the role mechanism between the evolution of regional industrial structure and urbanization, and to explore the interaction law. This will promote healthful development of regional economy and society.Based on the theories of Regional Economics, Industrial Economics, City Economics and Economics of Development, the paper, according to the relations between urbanization and evolution of industrial structure, introduces the theories of the urbanization and the industrial structure firstly and describes the coordination and interaction of urbanization and evolution of industrial structure with the method of norm and empirical analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, static and dynamic analysis. Taking the Three Gorges Reservoir area (TGR) as a case, research the coordinated development of urbanization and industrial structure is the keystone of the paper. First, the paper studies on characteristics of development of urbanization and evolution of industrial structure in the TGR, then analyzes the problems existing in the development respectively. Second, building the compositive system of evaluation indices of urbanization and industrial structure in the TGR and setting up the coordination degree-testing model, the coordinated level of the urbanization and industrial structure has been researched with empirical analysis. By using the coordinated degree, the paper describes the coordination state in TGR. Where after, the gray model GM(1,1) is applied to evaluate and forecast the coordination state. At last, on these bases, the paper comes up with some proposal on how to deal with coordinated development of urbanization and industrial structure in the TGR.
