In 20th century 90's, Japan, Korea, Europe and China as the representative of other countries and regions formed quad-polar pattern of the international shipbuilding industry. In 2003 China surpassed Europe on the three major indicators in the international shipbuilding industry. China became the third largest shipbuilding country in the world. Shipbuilding industry in China is an important strategic industry which has international competitiveness, but China's shipbuilding industry with that of leading shipbuilding countries, Japan and South Korea, there is still a certain gap which reflected in two aspects. China's shipbuilding industry medium and long term development planning report in 2006 pointed out that it is a critical period of development from 2006 to 2015. China targeted one of the largest and most powerful shipbuilding countries by 2015. Completion of the volume of China's share of the international shipbuilding market for 13 consecutive years ranked third in the world, China is one of the world's largest shipbuilding country recognized, but not an one of the most world's powerful shipbuilding country. This paper takes China's shipbuilding capacity as the object of study, targeting not only to analysis of the gap between leading shipbuilding countries, such as Japan, South Korea, and China in output and product structure of shipbuilding industry, but also proposes the main reasons behind the gap. Then analysis of China's increasing shipbuilding capacity in the medium-term and its impact on the international ship market is accomplished. Hopefully the conclusion can provide a decision-making support for government departments and related businesses to develop the shipbuilding industry policies and strategies and some useful references for researchers in related fields.In this paper, the impact of the increasing shipbuilding capacity of china on the international ship market carries out by six chapters. Chapter 1 takes introduction to some basic problems including the background, significance, the study of domestic and overseas and approach. The second chapter first theoretically expounds the meaning of shipbuilding capacity, and analyze the status of China's shipbuilding capacity, including the output, shipbuilding capacity regional distribution and product structure, and then proposes the four main factors of shipbuilding capacity, and comparing China's shipbuilding capacity and the leading shipbuilding countries, Japan, South Korea, reveal deep-seated reasons for the output of China's shipbuilding industry and product structure behind Japan, South Korea. The third chapter, from the two angles of the state's strategy and major shipbuilding groups, analyze the being implemented and to be implemented shipbuilding projects, forecasts China's increasing shipbuilding capacity in the medium-term. The fourth chapter begins with the analysis of the international ship market structure, mainly for the international shipping market in the three types of mainstream ship and major shipbuilding countries. First of all, analyze the historic price of the three types of mainstream ship prices and fluctuations in market demand, and secondly, deeply research the two major countries Japan and South Korea's increasing shipbuilding supply in the international ship market. Finally, this paper anlyzes the impact of increasing shipbuilding of China on the relationship of the international ship market supply and demand, the relationship of market supply and shipbuilding capacity, the ship price in the international ship market and the pattern of market competitiveness.
