China's shipbuilding industry which grows up rapidly accompanied with reforming and opening up, has become a major foreign exchange industry after 20 years'development. China's shipbuilding industry has played an important role on the world market currently, regardless of the amount of the shipbuilding accomplishment, new ship undertaking orders or the hand-held orders; our country has ranked the top three positions in the world, sometimes even more than other two shipbuilding countries Japan and South Korea. However, on such a competitive accumulating shipping market, there still are many problems in China.This article begins with the theory of international competitiveness, analyzes on the current shipbuilding markets'situation in the world and the status of China, Japan and South Korea, and then analyzes on competitiveness of China's shipbuilding industry by adapting the methods of comparison. It establishes the ship manufacturing competitiveness hierarchy model by referring the researches on the shipbuilding industry from domestic and abroad, combined with Porter's diamond model, this model includes five parts. And at the basis of the literatures from domestic and foreign, this model establishes a index system including 30 indicators, then selects more important indicators that affect manufacturing competitiveness by using the survey method, based on expert opinion, then take the data about shipbuilding manufacture industry in 2009 into the formula by entropy method to evaluate China's shipbuilding industry competitiveness objectively; then analyzes on the evaluation results to find the factors that constrain China's shipbuilding industry competitiveness, then mentions corresponding measures and suggestions.
