A Study On The Urban Centricity Of Wuhan Urban Circle

First of all,my thesis discusses the theoretical background of urban centricity research,analyses and compares various research methods in urban centricity,and then I outline the status of Wuhan urban circle,construct centricity indicator system of Wuhan urban circle based on theoretical basis for introduction.The system includes three levels, reflects five aspects.Totally 9 indicators and 13 specific data.I get Wuhan urban circle indicator data of 2002 and 2007 through authoritative books,,carry out a quantitative analysis on urban centricity of Wuhan urban circle by principal component analysis,and access integrated scoring of urban centricity and every business location.Through the results of the study of Wuhan urban circle,we could analyze the characteristics and problems in the process of its own development.There are some main characteristics and problems.First,compared with other cities in this circle,Wuhan is the only sing core,which influences the integration process of the overall metropolitan area. Second,there are differences between cities in their level of economic development and government performances.Besides,the unclear of government functions lead to redundancy and inefficiency.Third,owing to the lower level of market-oriented, especially the inconsistencies between government-led research and market-oriented manufacturing,health,welfare,sports,scientific research and integrated technical services are provided primarily by governments,which is not conducive to promote the development of the manufacturing industry.Fourth,the highways between the other eight cities in the circle can not be exchanged without Wuhan,resulting in the relatively close in their economic ties and even giving rise to vicious competition between them.Fifth, the development of social services can not meet with the level of economic growth; Except for Wuhan,the other cities in this circle,with weak degree of economic outward, are lack of strong attractive industries,which are not conducive to attracting external resources.Last,compared with the other eight cities,Wuhan has the advantage of strong external service.The advantages of the other eight cities can not be highlighted and integrated,so that a Wuhan urban circle lacks a competitive advantage in industrial clusters.In response to these characteristics and problems,the following countermeasures are given.First,make ever effort to develop secondary cities,strengthen the driving force of Wuhan,and intensify the inter-city cooperation and development.Second,governments should expedite the functions and mechanism innovation,and constantly improve the operating mechanism of a market economy,so as to improve government performances. All the cities should do a good job of planning the integrated development of Wuhan urban circle hand in hand,reducing costs in the implementation of various systems as far as possible.Third,build line network to enhance inter-contact between the other eight cities.Fourth,actively develop social services,and promote the service functions of all the cities.Fifth,use the positive effects of economic globalization to expand the scale of import and export,and optimize the product structure.Last,foster regional leading industries and industrial clusters to realize complementary advantages between cities in Wuhan urban circle.
