Inventory-transportation problem under the supply chain environment is a complicated system engineering . Studies on theories and applications of the integrated inventory-transportation have been fruitful abroad while in China it is still on the primary stage.As China has been one of the WTO members,Chinese enterprises are facing more and more drastic competitions that they eagerly require all kinds of effective measures to improve their market competition.Studies on the integrated inventory-transportation will help them reduce logistics cost,improve operation efficiency,and enhance customers satisfaction roundly.Based on the summarization of current studies on the integrated inventory-transportation home and abroad,theoretical studies were carried out in this paper and the probabilities of them applying to the real situations were discussed under the case calculation analysis.At first, basic inventory control models and basic transportation scheduling models were introduced in this paper,order quantity was proposed as the output of inventory models and input of transportation scheduling models,and these two models were united together.Besides, effects , evaluation standards and management measures of the integrated inventory-transportation problem were introduced.Secondly,according to the supply chain system which is made up of a single distribution center and a set of sales-points,the integrated inventory-transportation model was established under the Vendor Managed Inventory,and iterative algorithm,ant colony algorithm along with their steps and flow chart were advanced to solve the models,therefore, the optimal distribution quantity and the optimal distribution routes were worked out in view of system optimization.When solving the distribution costs,merits of ant colony were analyzed through comparisons,and the Max-Min ant algorithm was adopted to design the solving steps and methods.At last,took logistics system of a company as a case study,according to the previous models and algorithm,analysis of the results were carried out through calculations under Matlab programming,the validity and practical applications of the models and were verified.
