Comparative Study On The Tourism Competitiveness In The Four Central Cities Of Northeast

In later 1980's, scholars abroad have applied the concept of competitiveness to the field of tourism research, while the same research of those at home began in 1996, and the research on competitiveness of tourism has become the forefront in this field. Recently, with the increasing furious competition, the research on urban tourism competitiveness has attracted the academic attention, and become a heat topic. However, the research on competitiveness of urban tourism is still at its initial stage, for the lack of scientific and systematic analysis.In this paper, the four central cities in northeast include Changchun, Shenyang, Dalian and Harbin, which is the essence of economy in northeast, and belong to the developed area as well. Based on the advantage of natural resources, convenient transportation conditions and sound market environment, the four central cities have become hot tourist cities. However, there are still some problems, such as unbalanced development in tourism, the significant difference in competitiveness, and so on.To solve this problem, first of all, based on some reference documents and materials at home and abroad, this paper applies to the theory of competitive advantage, to define the concept of "Urban Tourism" and "Urban Tourism Competitiveness", to analyze the influence of urban tourism competitiveness, and to design the model of urban tourism competitiveness, suitable for four major cities in northeast, by using the model from Porter, and IMD competitiveness model. Secondly, according to certain principles, this paper also constructs a set of evaluation system of urban tourism competitiveness, and makes a quantitative evaluation for the four central cities in northeast by means of factor analysis. Finally, this article proposes some helpful solutions, in order to improve the Northeast's overall competitiveness of tourism and promote the economic development in this area.This paper consists of five chapters:Chapter one is the introduction part, which provides the research background, the significance of this research and the relevant finding in China and abroad. The paper represents the current researches about the tourism competitiveness, and at last brings forward the basic research method.Chapter two consists of the basic theories about the urban tourism competitiveness, the clear definition of the relevant concepts, and the relevant theories about urban tourism competitiveness. Chapter three is about the model design and analytical methodology of urban tourism competitiveness. At first, the factors which can influence the urban tourism competitiveness are analyzed, and then the model which fits the major city in northeast China is put forward. The factor analysis method is introduced on the base of the preceding model.Chapter four is the comparison of the city's competition in tourism in the major city of northeast China. This chapter first analyzes the current situation of the tourism in the four cities, and then analyzes the competition of tourism of the 15 cities with the method of factor analysis. The specific and detailed analysis of tourism competition in Changchun, Shenyang, Dalian, and Harbin is put forward at last.The chapter five is about the comprehensive strategy of the four major cities, which is aimed at the results of the comparison, with the focus at the enhancing the general competition ability in northeast China. The chapter describes spatial structure of urban tourism competitiveness of the four cities, on which basis conform the four major cities'competition, and present the method to exalt the four cities'competition in tourism.
