The education level of China is getting higher and higher as its economy growing in a fast pace. More and more students become choosing China as their overseas study destination. As one of the most developed cities in mainland China, Shanghai has many universities and colleges. Shanghai is attracting more and more overseas students to study and live in this city; it now has a number of 31636 overseas students in each higher education school, ranked NO.2 in China. Overseas students want to learn as much as possible during their time in China, so the tourism consumption amount of overseas students group is going bigger. As a sub-divided group, overseas students have their own preference in tourism consumption.Based on the study of Shanghai foreign students' psychological motivation on tourism consumption and tourism options, the paper analyzing the behind reasons of their preference and proposing some ideas for tourism industry to improve current situation and to develop new product to meet overseas students' needs. To start with, the paper defines the concept of the preference in tourism consumption and described the characteristic of it and according to the theory of the consumer behavior, the paper analyses and concludes all kinds of factors in influencing the preference in tourism consumption. Then on the basement of processing the onsite questionnaire, the analysis of the Shanghai overseas students as a stratum has the intercommunity of their preference in tourism consumption. In the final part, the paper gives out some suggestions about overseas students' group tourism marketing.
