Abstract/Summary:
As the process of urbanization speeding up, especially the main city expanding, the land of farmers in the hinterland of urban is less and less. In order to use land intensively, domestic and foreign scholars have put forth "the farmers' concentrated living", and made a great deal of research in this field. Some countries have already begun to carry this mode into effect, which mode China had begun to implement as early as the mid-19th century. "The farmers' concentrated living" could raise the level of urbanization, save a large number of house sites and land for rural roads, and speed up the land concentration of the scale operation in agriculture. But in the process of promoting farmers' concentrated living, it often has some problems. The paper takes the case of Leongjiadun town in Zhangye City, Gansu Province, a typical rural areas in the hinterland of urban, and analyzes the development process, present situation of farmer's habitation building and the motives of concentrated living, then points out the problems on the present course of concentrated living. Combined with the actual situation, the article puts forward two modes to guide the farmers' concentrated living: one is to reside in cities and towns, and the other is to construct center villages. Based on the two modes, the author forecasts the scales of concentrated living, and finally discusses the measures about the concentrated living in Leongjiadun.
