Rizhao Port is a newly-rising coastal port, starting and developing with China's Reform and Opening-up. It started to be constructed in 1982, and was put into operation in 1986. In 2006, it edged in the ranks of "100 million tons port". Rizhao Port (Group) Co. Ltd. is in charge of Rizhao Port, and Rizhao Port Stock Limited Company is the only one of the domestically listed companies in Rizhao.Surrounding Rizhao Port, there are many other ports from north to south along Shandong Peninsula, such as Yantai Port, Weihai Port, Qingdao Port and Lian Yungang Port. Especially, Qingdao Port and Lian Yungang Port are very close to Rizhao Port without avoided of the competition of goods supply. The focus of this thesis is laid on how Rizhao Port strategically challenges the fierce competition and faces the complex situation.Based on national port industry and Rizhao Port reality, this thesis analyzes the internal and external situation of Rizhao Port and makes research on its resource capacity with the help of strategical analysis of PEST and the analysis of five forces for industry. By the way of SWOT analysis, this thesis investigates the port's advantages and disadvantages, analyzes the marking opportunity and external threat, draws up the suitable competitive strategies, and put forwards the effective solutions to carry out the competitive strategies by the application of the related knowledge of competitive strategy. The study of this thesis presents the method on Rizhao Port's competitive strategies, makes clear the strategic intention, and puts forward the strategic and specific ideas and solutions, which is of great realistic significance for the competitive development of Rizhao Port.
