In recent decades, in order to meet the increasingly stringent environmental requirements and motor vehicle exhaust emission standards, there's trend of gasoline and diesel quality standards escalating. China's refineries are faced with the dual pressure of high crude oil prices with poor quality, and the increasingly demanding quality requirements of refined oil. Therefore, enhancing total quality management is particularly important and urgent in the petrochemical industry. PDCA cycle is the most basic procedure that total quality management should follow; it covers four phases including plan, do, check, and action, which is also the basis for our quality management research. With petrochemical industry as the research background, this thesis introduces PDCA cycle as its core analytical framework. Three key issues are dealt with, namely, the development of petrochemical quality tracking platform, the investment evaluation of quality inspection/tracking tools, and the incident scenario analysis of quality surplus/exceeds. Among these, petrochemical quality tracking platform is based on the modeling theory of mass transfer and a quality optimization and quality simulation system is built respectively, which is capable of supporting the decision-making of quality plan phase. The evaluation of quality inspection/ tracking tool is based on weighted evaluation system; its establishment is able to assist the investment decisions of quality check phase. The scenario analysis of quality incidents can conduct the root cause analysis of both qualities redundant and excessive. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:In Chapter 1, the overview of petrochemical industry background and the basic concepts of quality management theory are introduced, as well as the latest industry research and application of quality management in petrochemical industry. Later, this paper's research objectives and innovative points are presented. In Chapter 2, after the description of major refining processes, a common modeling framework of product quality tracking is proposed. By integrating process characteristics and the statistical modeling methods, the specific quality transfer model of each process in petrochemical supply chain is elaborated. In Chapter 3, the petrochemical quality tracking platform is built based on the modeling principles and the optimization/simulation strategy. The overall design and the implementing procedure are described in detail, as well as the corresponding relational database design process. The comparation of optimization and simulation system is put forward. In Chapter 4, the quality tracking platform is implemented on a simplified refinery. Combined with the test data, the feasibility and effectiveness of optimization model and simulation model to assist the decision-making of quality plan is validated. In Chapter 5, the investment evaluation of product quality inspection and tracking tool is described, as well as the root cause analysis of quality incidents, preventive measures are recommended to ensure similar qulity issue won't happen in the future. In Chapter 6, the thesis is concluded with a summary and the questions which need further research in the future are also discussed.
