Jinan Public Transit Development Study Under The Guidance Of TOD Strategy

Urbanization is the inevitable result of modernization. In the post National Games era, Jinan is facing a new round of rapid development of urbanization. With the improvement of the structure and function of the city, especially the completion of the new engine of urban development, the 16 urban complex projects of 400 billion yuan investment, which promoted by municipal party committee and municipal government, Jinan's image as the provincial capital would greatly enhanced, the comprehensive competitive ability and the radiating power towards peripheral cities would highly strengthened.The promotion of urbanization depends on the support and improvement of municipal infrastructure centering on public transit. TOD strategy has become one of the deeply praised urban development modes in North America and even in the whole world. The strategy depends on mass public transit and supported by mass public transit network. It is to make use of urban land and facilities more effectively and to restrain the over-expansion of the city so that sustainable development can be achieved. The thesis discusses the public transit development strategy of Jinan in three aspects. First is to discuss theoretically the research results on TOD issue at home and abroad in order to point out the significance of TOD strategy in restraining the over-expansion of the city and realizing urbanization and sustainable development of the city. Second is to explain the tool of TOD strategy-MRT, and to reveal practically that relevant supporting measures are necessary to TOD strategy through TOD cases in America. At last, the thesis comes to the path selection and supporting measures of public transit development of Jinan under the guidance of TOD strategy, it could make the thesis perspective and practical.TOD strategy provides a exchange platform to explore the sustainable development of Jinan, and to solve the problems such as the direction of development, strategic plan, policy of public transit development of Jinan and urban land use and modes of transit development. Fundamentally speaking, the mode of public transit development guided by TOD strategy is not only an urban development strategy which could enhance the effectiveness of the urban space, but also collects a number of urban sustainable development concepts.
