As the competition of manufacturing enterprises gradually turning to speed competition from quality and scale competition, how to shorten the lead time is the primary factor to gain market for enterprise. The rationality of enterprise's facilities layout and the patency of material handling directly influence its capacity and production cycle. The facilities planning and design is one of the important branches of industrial engineering. According to planning the workshop's facilities, the enterprise resource(equipments, materials, human, energy etc.) can be effectively organized for achieving the efficient performance. The traditional method of facilities planning and design is mainly quantitative analysis combining with experience, the method is complex in computing and the design time is long, and whether the design plan is reasonable need to verify through actual production, so it increases risk and cost, go against its modernizeation production. With the rapid development of system simulation technique, the facilities planning and design, analysis and validate of enterprises can be adopted simulation means which efficiently avoid the risk of their facilities layout changes in existence. In the paper, the research contents mainly have a few aspects as follow.1. The field research is done and the experiment data is collected in production line of one automobile assembly shop, and the simplified model of the shop is gained. Aim at the characteristic of production actuality and production line in the shop, the simulation software eM_Plant is adopted for modeling and simulation.2.The related theory and analysis method of the enterprise facliity planning is researched, specially the system layout design method. The production logistics system of assembly shop is analyzed by an automobile manufacturing enterprise example, and the existent problems are found and the improved program is put forward by the system layout design method.3.The paper researches the method of production logistics system modeling and simulating. The before and after adjustment simulation models are built base on eM_Plant for the assembly shop of automobile factory. The simulation model is run on analysis the data.4.According to comparing and analyzing the output data of new and old programs'models, the optimum program is found.This paper successfully applies the mean which efficiently combines the system layout desgin method and simulation technology to the layout and optimization of automobile assembly shop production line. The researches can provide the theoretical support for the production line design and adjustment.
