The transformation of resource-based city is a worldwide problem. China has 118 resource-based cities,50 of which have been showing signs of resource failure. The pressure on the transformation of China's resource-based city is self-evident. In this paper, taking Baiyin city as an example, I made an in-depth study on the transformation of resource-based city. After elaborating theories on urban functions, I analyzed the formation of Baiyin city and its urban functions, characteristics of the evolution and development. Considering the defects, deficiencies and the advantages of transition and potential of Baiyin city's urban functions before transformation, I proposed the city's development orientation and the corresponding measures. After summarizing the results and experience achieved in the transformation, I proposed the corresponding development ideas and policy recommendations on how to integrate into the "Lan-Bai metropolis circle" as an opportunity to further deepen the transformation of urban functions. |
