With the reform and opening up to outside world, trade associations in China are emerging in the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics. The trade associations of western developed countries are important part in the market economy mechanism, and play an indispensable role in social governance and market economy. In contrast, trade associations in China are with problems of unsound system, functions-missing, internal governance incomplete and so on, so as not to play an effective role.In 2007, Document No.36 of National Development Office clearly brings forward "Actively expanding the functions of trade associations", to fully exert the importance of trade association in and economic construction and social development. Based on this, this thesis aims to develop approach and strategy of exploring the functions of trade associations through analysis for fuction of local trade associations in China.This thesis is mainly divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which introduces the research background, significance and relevant research results. The second part deals with related concepts of trade associations, which introduces the two main theory of trade association:Governance Theory & Incorporation Theory. The third part discusses the functions position of local trade association and functions content, and analyzes the problems and reasons of trade association functions missing. The fourth part explores two ways to expanding the functions of our local trade associations, which analyzes force embedded style and model of interactive style and select interactive style as an effective way for China's conditions. The fifth part raises some strategies for interactive style in order to expanding the functions of local trade associations.
