Yuli is located in the middle reaches of Tarim River, as light and heat conditions is sufficient,it becomes a major cotton production bases in Xinjiang, so it has an important practical significance to study on the sustainability of oasis land in this region. In this paper, the Yuli's Landsat / TM image data of 1970, 1990, 2000 and 2008 is the main information source, it used the method of combining RS and GIS technology, extracted all lands'area within the study area from 1970 to 2008, at the same time,it collected the relevant economic data in the region through the opportunities of outside investigation. Use of area data, combined with the land transfer matrix method and the dynamic change trend analysis of ecological land, the paper studied the change and sustainable utilization of the ecological land in this regional,and then used of the area and economic data, combined with the ecological footprint model and analysis of ecological footprint change's degree to research the agricultural land within the area.The results show that: (1) In general, Yuli Oasis land in unsustainable development status; (2) area and utilization's degree of ecological land is in a tendency of dropping off in general, at the same time,it is being adjusted in three stages,and in an instability and unsustainable state; (3) Yuli's agricultural land is ecological surplus in the three periods, consistent with the requirements of sustainable development; (4) the main results of ecological land is unsustainable and agricultural land is sustainable are the shortage of water resources to cause competing between tow facts, as well as the impact of a large number of land reclamation.
