Since the reform and opening up, China's road transportation undertakings has had a rapid development, highway construction has made great achievements. The position of Road Transportation increases significantly in the integrated transportation, and the situation of traditional transportation has undergone profound changes.With the development of national economy and society, it continues to increase the request of the road transportation. So, we must have a grasp of macro and accurate general direction for future development, which involves a long-term goal and a long-term planning. In order to develop a scientific planning of road transportation, scientific forecast of future trend is extremely important. The transport industry can not develop without demand-driven, therefore, in form, the most striking feature of planning is based on the level of national economic and social development, we should make sure the size and structure of the transportation development basing on the transport demand forecast, in order to provide the scientific basis for decision-making. Therefore, transport demand forecasting is the first step in the research of transport development and planningThis paper begins with the nature of transportation demand, by analyzing the basic theory of transport demand and forecast, and studying the mechanism of goods transport demand, and then clears different intrinsic elements of freight transport demand, finally brings up a concept of forecasting in different category. Meanwhile, this paper proposes a system of freight transport demand survey and forecast system, through the transport demand survey to collect information on transportation needs of society, in order to support the forecast data, and achieve the ultimate aim of improving the precision of the transport demand forecast. |
