Paper industry as the basic material plays an important part in our economy. And it involves culture, education, technology and other areas. Although Chinese paper industry starts up later, it expands quickly, especially with development of our economy recently, the market needs more paper products from our country. And with the economic globalization, Chinese paper industry has to face more and more opportunities and challenges. Now China has been the prime country which produces, consumes and trades a lot of paper products. Under the fierce competition from both the national and international markets, both the Chinese government and the paper production plants should pay more attention to the situation and the influencing factors of Chinese paper products competitiveness, and the way to improve it.Based on the international competitiveness theory and the international competitiveness research of experts from home and aboard, we establish the system of the international competitiveness of paper and paperboard to analyze the competitiveness of our paper and paperboard. Based on the empirical CMS model analysis on the growth effect of Chinese paper and paperboard, we get the conclusion that our paper and paperboard are short of competitiveness on the international market now. This dissertation guided by Porter's 'Diamond Theory' analyzes the factors which affect the competitiveness of Chinese paper and paperboard thoroughly and we also point out some general developing and practical suggestion for the competitiveness rising.According to the analysis of this thesis, Chinese paper products competitiveness keeps promoting recent years. But their competitiveness is not enough in the international market. So we need to make proper policy and strategy carefully in order to improve it.
