With the improvement of living standards, an increasingly attention is paid to the protection of environment and health. To take account of human survival and environmental protection, developing clean textile industry by using green mode is significant. However, the anthraquinone disperse dye has the following disadvantages:long route synthesis, large quantities of garbage and problems in controling. From the perspective of environmental protection, we have to search for alternatives. The thesis aims at the application feasibility if heteryclic azo-based dyes can take place of anthraquinone disperse Red 60. The following work is done:2-amino-5-mercapto-ethyl-1,3,4-thi diazole(referred to as ethyl thiazolyl dayl) was synthesized using 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole and bromoethane and by studying of the ratio of raw materials, batch feeding temperature, the reaction temperature and reaction time, the best synthetic route was obtained:thiadiazole:bromoethane:sodium hydroxide:water= 1:1.3:1.125:27; The adding temperature of thiadiazole is between 28℃and 38℃while the reaction temperature is 40℃and thermal response time is 3-4hours.C.I. disperse red 338 was synthesized using ethyl thiazolyl dayl as a diazo component, and 3-acetyl-amino-N, N-propyl aniline as the coupling components by both one-step and the sub-step methods. Compared with sub-step method, the whole operation of one-step method is simple.Under the temperature of 3-8℃,the amount of ice is significantly reduced when diazo reaction and coupling reaction in progress, so the production cost was saved, while the quality and yield improved a lot. Finally, the dying properties of C.I. disperse red 338 and C.I. disperse red 60 such as lifting force,dye-uptake,dyeing compatibility, color fastness and so on were studied. It is showed that:C.I. disperse red 338 and C.I. disperse red 60 are highly alike in the coloured light. And the former is better than latter in washing fastness and sublimation fastness. Compared with C.I. disperse red 343, which is widely used today, C.I. disperse red 338 has better performance. In conclusion, C.I. disperse red 338 is the ideal alternative of C.I. disperse red 60.
