Kapok fiber, as a kind of natural fiber, not only taking good performance, and has other excellent characteristics, such as heat preservation, waterproof, moth-proofing and mouldproof, and it is renewable natural resources. Kapok fiber planting cost lower than that of cotton fiber, becoming a new research focus of renewable fiber. Kapok fiber has a unique hollow structure, and fiber surface covered with water repellency substances, such as wax and pectin. Kapok fiber is fine, surface is smooth, colour is beautiful, so it can be used as fabric. Although the kapok fiber has many excellent properties, but so far, kapok fiber is mainly used as filler material and buoyancy material, the application in the field of textile field is almost zero, and this is far from out of the kapok fiber inner advantages into full play. Because of kapok fiber quality, shorter fiber length, smooth surface, and holding force difference, it is difficult to separate the spun yarn, so the large-scale application of kapok fiber are infrequent in the field of spinning.This topic adopting reasonable test methods, study of the structure and properties of kapok fiber. Study on the kapok fiber morphological structure, test the mechanical properties of kapok fiber, The average breaking strength was 0.59cN, Elongation at break was 5%. Infrared spectrometer is used to determine the molecular composition and structure of kapok fiber, using X ray diffraction measurement of kapok fiber crystallinity, and texting the fineness and moisture regain of kapok fiber, analysis of experiment results are reasonable.Plasma treatment of kapok fiber, and studing the discharge time, discharge power, gas medium of kapok fiber pretreatment effect. For 27 kw in discharge power, gas medium conditions for oxygen, and the comparison of different discharge time effect on the properties of kapok fiber such as morphology, mass loss rate, tensile properties, hygroscopic property, chemical composition.Alkali treatment of kapok fiber, study on the lye concentration, treatment temperature and treatment time of kapok fiber pretreatment effect. At time 2 h, the temperature 90 ℃, the concentration of 4 g/L,6 g/L,8 g/L,10 g/L,12 g/L of alkali, contrast analysis respectively the influence on the surface morphology,weightlessness rate, mechanical properties, filtration performance, thermal performance and chemical composition of kapok fiber.Study of kapok cotton/cotton ring spun blending process, produced successfully blended ratio of up to 50% of the kapok cotton/cotton blended yarn, the yarn performance testing, comparison of different blending ratio on yarn breaking strength, elongation at break, the influence of the hairiness, the evenness. And studied the different combing noil rate to improve the yarn breaking strength, improve the effect of yarn hairiness and evenness. Contrast after pretreatment process of kapok cotton/cotton blended yarn properties. Find more optimal pretreatment technology, spinning kapok cotton/cotton blended yarn with better yarn properties. In order to improve the spinning performance of kapok fiber for the purpose, and expand the kapok fiber application in textile field.
