Machining simulation not only can see clearly that virtual machining process, and some problems can be found in operation at the same time, it is of great significance to guide the actual process. In this paper, the research of worm grinding wheel finishing machining simulation based on VERICUT were studied mainly from the following aspects:1 First, the development situation of gear grinding machine was briefly introduced. According to the experimental equipment, the structure and characteristics of the YK7250 NC gear grinding wheel machine was introduced detailed. Some problems existing in the worm wheel gear grinding also was pointed out. Three worm grinding wheel dressing method was designed aiming at the above problems, the modification scheme of combining preliminary shaping and finishing was put forward eventually the dressing methods of cylindrical arc diamond wheel was chose.2 Secondly, the NC machining simulation software VERICUT was introduced. Then according to the requirement of the machining simulation, NC dressing model was completed in the 3D software Pro/E, and the dressing model was imported into the VERICUT, the construction of the virtual machine was completed on VERICUT system, the setting of NC machine control system was completed, NUM1060 M numerical control system was added, and the mechanism of NC program was introduced simply. Finally the construction of the virtual machine was completed.3 Finally, the NUM numerical control system used in the simulation and the programming method of NC system was introduced. The trajectory of diamond dressing wheel was planned in the simulation machining, and the equidistant curve of the tooth profile of worm grinding wheel was calculated corresponding to the cutter contact point, the compilation of NC program was completed. The simulation machining was carried on and collision detection in the simulation process was detected, the correctness of the simulation system that we build was verified.Through machining simulation on the VERICUT, we not only see clearly the finishing process, but also the machining error was found in the process and modified. Finally, dressing experiment of the worm grinding wheel was carried out in YK7250 gear grinding machine and the correctness and rationality of modification planning was proved.
