The best production technique of ChuanXiong decoction pieces and granule was chosen out by orthogonal method in thi: study. It was proved that this production technique is stable and controllable. At the same time we compared the quality of three kinds of processable of ChuanXiong (crude herb, wine-frying herb, wine-baking herb)and their granule. The results snow that both the three processable and the granule have the same ingredients, but the crude ChuanXiong contents more volatile oil. The content of ferulic acid in the other two processable is higher than the crude one. These finding indicated that the traditional procession method with wine is a reasonable method. We also found the wine-baking herb contents more ingredients than wine-frying herb, so we suggest that it is feasible to use the wine-baking herb instead of the wine-frying herb. Because of the reasonable production technique, the ChuanXiong granules have the same stable and controllable contents, so it is believed that the ChuanXiong granules can be used instead of the ChuanXiong decoction pieces.
