Pc-based Open Cnc Cylindrical Cam System

Cam mechanism is the latest indexing mechanism during thirty years and it can transfer the revolement of cam to the motion of follower by rule. As the development trend of intermittent motion mechanism, cylindrical cam mechanism has good kinematic and kinetic character ,and is widely used in various automatic machinery and automatic lines. It is difficult to manufacture the cylindrical cam by the traditional ways so computer numerical control (CNC) goes with operating requirement.As the core of the modern manufacture technology, NC technology is the symbolof manufacturing and the key to improve the quality and capability of the product, to reduce the cost of the product, shorten the period of the product.The open architecture CNC system based on PC is the popular way of the CNC system today, and the goal of open architecture CNC system is to build a modular reconfigurable and expandable and open architecture.The paper describe the motion laws and characteristic value of cam mechanism, investigate work principle of the cylindrical cam,analyze the profile based on the expanding curve of cylindrical cam,introduce the generation principle,modify the motion curve, and educe the cutter track coordinated the same time,modify the feed speed of the two axes linkage control.The simple and open architecture CNC system of cylindrical cam is designed based on analysises of the mesh theory and the machining mechanism,while,the hardware and software of the system are proposed.The system chooses industrial personal computer as the upper controller and motion control card as the following controller, and design the mode of "IPC+Motion Control Card".In this paper, the technology of Visual C++ is deeply investigated and the software modules are given.which show the powerful functions of human machine interface real-time and dynamic display produce and loader of the cut track and two axes linkage interpolation, etc.The research for the simple and open architecture CNC system of cylindrical cam is successful in emulational and practical test.
