The sucker-rod pumping system are widely used in the oil field, what is happening to the sucker-rod pumping system of the oil well can be known through monitoring the parameters of various aspects of oil well at any time. These parameters mainly include the displacement quantity of the oil pumping pole, casing pressure, tubing pressure, the indicator diagram, electric current and voltage curve graph, etc. Due to the inconvenience of the traffic at well sites and dispersive location, the labor intensity of maintenance crew in testing and maintaining has to be increased greatly, while the labor efficiency is reduced and the cost of recovering the oil is raised. Therefore, how to remotely transmit the above-mentioned data is of significance to the oil well industry.GSM and GPRS global mobile communication technology are becoming better in recent years, so does the coverage rate. It has offered the strong and reliable short message service(SMS) and GPRS data transmission service, besides, it is cheap. All of these make wireless monitoring method for the sucker-rod pumping possible in remote area. As a result, the data can be transmitted between the control centre and monitoring terminal station by means of GSM, GPRS data transmission platform in the wireless networking way.As far as the pumping unit monitoring system is concerned, the computer center control software adopts Delphi6.0 visual integrated developing instruments. With the help of its powerful component parts and database function, the work for writing Windows application program have been simplified greatly, thus the development time for writing the application program is shortened, and the cost of development is reduced as well. The monitoring and control terminal of the oil wells on the spot gathers data by using the fast single chip computer, then the data are sent to wireless communication module which takes the GSM and GPRS as data-transmission medium ,then transmit the data for the top computers to deal with.The wireless monitoring of the pumping unit is realized in this way.The operation on the spot proves that the installation and maintenance of this system is convenient, while it works steadily and operates reliably with high accuracy. Furthermore, the monitoring software function is completed, the man-machine interface is friendly, and there is no circumstance of losing data during the transmission of short message. With the lagged data reaches of the permitted range which the monitoring system requires, this system will greatly improve the automatization of the pumping unit and cut down the cost of oil field and bring much practical value in industrial production.
