Polylactic acid (PLA) fiber is a kind of environmental protection fiber. The production made of it can be degraded completely by germ. The degradation product is carbon dioxide and water which would not result in environmental pollution. Its PH value is between 6 and 6.5. PLA fiber has good compatibility with human' skin and it is antibacterical. PLA/Cotton blended yarn not only has the advantage of PLA but also avoid the disadvantage of PLA, such as: bad absorption, static charge. In the process of spinning, we should use measure in order to reduce static charge. Getting the best blending ratio is also the key point of the discussion.The experiments and tests contain such works mainly as follows:Blending PLA with cotton(1.8dtex 27mm) and cotton(1.7dtex 37mm) respectively at seven blending ratios and then spinning. The blending ratios are PLA/C: 0/100; 20/80; 35/65; 50/50; 65/35; 80/20; 100/0;Yarn quality (evenness / haimess / tensiling propertity) test;Comparing yarn qualities of seven blending ratios; the relation equation between yarn quality and blending ratio is established; properties of yarn are analyzed by fuzzy decision.Conclusion:1. There is a great difference between PLA fiber's elongation and cotton's. The strength of blended yarn first worsened and then improved with the increasing of the PLA content. The breakage elongation-blending ratio curve shows that the breakage elongation of blended yarn is gentle before the strength transition point, after the point the curve rise up obviously.2. The evenness of blended yarn is improving with the increasing of PLA content.3. The haimess of blended yarn is reducing with the increasing of PLA content.4.
