The iron and steel industry is an important foundation for a country's economic and social development, representing the degree of its industrialization development, and one of the important indicators in the world to measure the development level of a country's economic industrialization.Since this century,China's steel industry has entered a period of rapid development,Steel production ranks first in the world for many years. However, compared with other major steel countries,my country's steel industry still has problems such as low industrial concentration, decentralized production layout, and irregular market competition.steel industry has many related and supporting industries and has a strong industrial relevance. Therefore, the sustainable development of my country's steel industry plays an important role in all aspects of national economy and security. In order to ensure the healthy and sustainable development of China's steel industry,it is necessary to analyze and study the international competitiveness of my country's steel industry.First, based on the theory of the cause of industrial international competitiveness and the theory of econometric analysis, from the perspective of economic environment, invisible competitiveness, and dominant competitiveness, this paper takes eight countries including China,Japan, the United States, and South Korea as evaluation objects, and selects per capita GDP,Fourteen indicators, such as industry concentration,GDP growth rate, iron ore self-sufficiency index, labor productivity, dominant comparative advantage index, trade competition index, and international market share, are used to build an international competitiveness evaluation system for the steel industry.Secondly, through the construction of the international competitiveness evaluation system, using the objective evaluation model, namely the entropy weight-gray correlation analysis method,to evaluate the international competitiveness of the eight major steel-producing countries. The conclusions are as follows: The international competitiveness of the steel industry from strong to weak is as follows: South Korea,Japan, the United States,China,Germany,Turkey,Russia, and India.China's economic environment is relatively competitive, second only to the United States and Turkey, and it ranks fifth in stealth competitiveness.Compared with the top three countries such as theUnited States,Japan, and South Korea,it still has a large gap,but its explicit competitiveness ranks first.Japan and South Korea are closely followed, and China has an advantage in the apparent competitiveness. Finally, according to the evaluation results, the weaker international competitiveness of my country's steel industry is targeted.Suggestions are made from the aspects of improving the supply of iron ore, labor productivity and industrial concentration to improve the competitiveness of my country's steel industry and promote the sustainable development of my country's steel industry.
