Subject of this dissertation supported by the national key basic reaserch program of China "molecular assembly and synthesis of efficient flotation collector of refractory ore". In this work, some types of surfactants were used as collectors for zinc oxide ore flotation. The cationic collectors include:the primary amine, the quaternary ammonium salt, the Gemini cationic collectors and the siloxane the silicone cationic collectors cationic collectors. Anionic collectors mainly include:oleic acid, alkyl-carboxylic acid (DSA) and alkyl-aryl hydroxamic acid (TBBA). The tests, discutions and results are listed as follow:(1) The collector capacity of structural factors, the types of ion group, hydrocarbons length and other factors, were compared through the single mineral flotation experiment. Results indicate that:the flotation effects of the primary amine and the silicone cationic collectors are significantly better than the quaternary ammonium salt and the Gemini Cationic collectors in smithsonite. In the primary amine, the collector capacity of dodecylamine is comprehensively the strongest. The collector capacity of the silicone cationic TAS101 is almost the same as dodecylamine in smithsonite, and it is also a selective collector.(2) The collector capacity of traditional anion collector oleic acid and new anion collector DSA and TBBA were studied through the single mineral flotation experiment in smithsonite. In a wide range of pH range, DSA is significantly better than Oleic acid and TBBA. The order of collecting ability is:DSA>oleic acid>TBBA. Experimental data indicate that concent rate grade came to 36.28% with recovery of 55.45% at the condition of a grade of 9.70% with zinc.(3) The absorption mechanism of TAS101 and oleic acid on the smithsonite have been investigated though zeta potential and IR spectrum measurements. The result confirms that the interaction between TAS101 and smithsonite are mainly electrostatic absorption and amine salt chemical adsorption, but the interaction between oleic acid and smithsonite are mainly chemisorption.
